5 Ways to Become Obsessed with the Bright Side

Well, what is this bright side?

I am glad you asked! The bright side is the little piece of optimism you hold on to when things are not working in your favor. I always look to the brighter side when I need reassurance that things could really be much worse. It drops me back into the reality that I am living a good life and that things could be much much worse.

I am obsessed with it to say the least. Pretty much in any situation I always use the phrase, “Well, on the bright side..”. I introduce new possibilities that may not be on the front of someone’s mind when something bad happens.

So how can you become obsessed?

Easy!

  1. Think about it, like all the time

If you aren’t constantly thinking about all the times an outcome could have been much worse, you don’t really appreciate how fortunate you are that it ended in a certain way. For example, let’s say you got shot. If I were your friend, my very second sentence to you would probably be, “On the bright side, at least you didn’t die.” If you say, “Yeah, I guess you’re right.” That’s being aware and actually thinking about how the situation could have been worse. However, If you say “WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! I GOT SHOT!!” Then it’s going to be a lot harder to become obsessed. It doesn’t have to be big things like that either. If you begin to see how good you have it, the bad won’t matter as much.

  2. See the bright side for others

I mean, It’s a great way to learn a lot about yourself. If you can see the brighter side for others, then what’s stopping you from seeing it for yourself? You go all the time with realizing that it could be much worse for others, then you will eventually realize it for yourself. Eventually, you won’t even need anyone to tell you your bright side, you’ll already know. To make it even better, people will love you! They’ll want to spend so much more time with the person who loves positivity, Every one wants to surround themselves with positive vibes.

  3. Stop living in fear

This is a good one because it can be so applicable to all aspects of life. Stop being scared. Looking at the brighter side of things doesn’t mean you will forget that bad things are happening. We all go through some really tough crap. Some more than others, but in order for you to become obsessed with the brighter side you can’t be afraid. You can’t be afraid of what people may think of you or how they will react to how you handle situations.  You will put your full trust in the brighter side and know that none of the negativity in your life will hold you down, because you know for a fact that there is a brighter side.

  4. You have to smile like crazy

And not one of those fake ones either. I mean a truly genuine smile because dammit you are happy! You are happy because your positive outlook on life allows you to be the best you, you could possibly be! You have accepted new challenges and conquered new heights because you want to, not because you have to. You are kicking ass and taking names, so why aren’t you smiling all the time? I smile a lot, so I guess this has something to do with it.

  5. You have to forgive

People have done you wrong. They’ve probably kicked you while you were down. They abandoned you and left you out to dry. But you know what? It doesn’t matter. In order to continuously look on the bright side you have to accept that not everyone is rooting for you. In fact, you have to do one better and forgive those people. People who hold grudges can’t be obsessed with the brighter side because they are consumed with negative emotions. They are being hurt from an incident that happened to them years ago and if they still haven’t found that the bright side is them no longer being toxic in their life then they aren’t ready to be obsessed. You can’t just pick and choose. Some people are going to hurt you, but when you’ve learned to see that them no longer being there is a bright side, you have truly become obsessed.

so let’s recap!

  1. I love this! I have been really working to turn things around for me, battling against depression and a lot of emotional baggage I needed to let go of. This list is a perfect reminder of how to keep myself on track, thank you so much for sharing it!

    1. Keep working hard everyday and you will most definitely get there! I still have a ways to go before I will say I am there. Everyday there will be new struggles, but you can do it. I believe in you Christina!

  2. I’m not sure anyone can fully eradicate fear. It’s being able to confront it and not let it stop you. In my opinion, it’s probably the hardest thing on this list.

    1. of course not, however, one of the biggest fears that hold us back from our true potential, is the fear of what other people may think!
you can minimize that fear or even get rid of it altogether!
because who really cares what others think! It’s your life. If you want to be a ray of sunshine all the time then be that ray of sunshine. We all could live a life full of peace if we all learned to not care about what others think.
It is very hard. I am still trying to master it myself. But i am working on it and hope that one day I can have this peace!
